The GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards in partnership with Samsung is all about celebrating strong, powerful women and it seems that model, Charli Howard, was inspired by strength and power when getting ready for the awards' red carpet.

The Squish Beauty founder arrived rocking a thigh-length braid, woven with metallic cord and strictly parted down the centre. Her dress – a skin tight, sculptural cut-out column gown – meanwhile gave us goddess-meets-warrior vibes.

“As it's GLAMOUR's Women of the Year, I wanted to celebrate the female form,” Charli explained. “I just kept thinking of Angelina Jolie in the Tomb Raider poster, so I wanted a long plait. I love it. I wanted to feel like a goddess,” she revealed of her hair style, created by hairdresser, Liam Curran.

As for outfit details, don't worry, Charli was just as forth-coming. “The top is by Cameron Hancock and the skirt is by Jill Halfpenny who is an amazing British designer,” Charli revealed.

And, being a beauty founder, the model was not about to let us down when it came to her makeup either. She gave us ultra feline-lined eyes, full fluttery lashes and a retro colour scheme to keep things interesting. “It's a bit seventies. I love vintage styles. I added bit of white eyeshadow as I knew GLAMOUR is all about makeup and I wanted to come through with that.”

So, 10 out of 10 for understanding the assignment goes to Charli Howard for one of our favourite glam looks from the night.

But, while the GLAMOUR team were dressing her down for the details, we had to also tap up her beauty tips. “I use clear soap and a toothbrush on my eyebrows to brush them up and strawberries on the teeth help to whiten them naturally,” she told us. As for her ride or die products she let slip she loves Charlotte Tilbury's Beautiful Skin Foundation, Bioderma's micellar water, Tom Ford's black eyeliner and for a budget buy, she loves a bit of Carmex. “I genuinely feel they make your lips look fuller,” she said.

As for her advice to her younger self “block out the haters,” she said. “You don’t want any negative people in your life. It just wears you down. Mental health is so important and I’m such an advocate of looking after your mind. You’ve only got one body and you have to look after it. So just surround yourself with positive people.”
