Hosting GLAMOUR's Women of the Year awards for the second consecutive year, Katherine Ryan marked another major fashion moment as she arrived on tonight's red carpet in a stunning bespoke dress by Gyunel couture.

A metallic green gown complete with sheer panel and detailed embellishment tumbling to the floor, styled by Jennifer Michalski-Bray it was every inch a show-stopping look fit for the face of such a glamorous evening.

“I didn’t have a vision for the dress,” Katherine told GLAMOUR UK, “I just had a vision for the designer.”

“Gyunel knocked it out of the park last year and I was 9 months pregnant then. She made me feel fierce and fabulous even when I wasn’t feeling my absolute best self. So, I couldn’t wait to see if she would do me the honour of dressing me when I’m not expecting.”

How does such a look come together, and does Katherine have a tight brief when coming up with the look for such an occasion?

“I have a trusted glam team I always work with for start, I consult them.”

“I’ve been a bit of a challenge for the last two years because being a woman, I’m in a season of life where I have been either pregnant or breast feeding or both. So, I’ve had to navigate a changing body. That means I always need bust support, I like corseting if possible and there is usually a lot of double sided tape involved, but even in that season of life, you can be glamorous with the right team and the right dress.”

“I really love [red carpet dressing]. It’s such a departure from what I normally look like. I’ve gotten a lot better at posing which has helped give me confidence - as photographs used to make me feel a little uncomfortable as I’m used to chatting and talking on stage. The right outfit always helps to make me feel confident.”

“Katherine has worn archival Gyunel Couture on several occasions over the past year”, the Gyunel team told GLAMOUR UK. “She knew she could trust [us] to design a statement dress that encapsulates the classic house shape and design features that she was fond of wearing, from statement arm drapery to asymmetric peplums with cascading embroidery and jewels.”

“From several custom hand-drawn drawings both Gyunel and Katherine worked to narrow down the perfect aesthetic for the Glamour WOTY to showcase style, craftsmanship and female empowerment.”

“Glamour's much-loved WOTY's vibe was a driving factor in the whole design and making process. Strength, independence, style and comfort all played a part in this.”

“The final garment is a symbol of all these attributes and a beacon to further crush the patriarchy and issues most women face in day-to-day life.”
