Kylie Jenner is taking us way back. I don't know about you, but the last thing I'm taking beauty inspiration from is photos of myself at age 17. It was not my best decision-making era, especially when it came to things like hair. But I am not, as you might have deduced, Kylie Jenner, who was already a beauty influencer at that age. And her look in 2014 is still influencing people to this day — including herself, apparently.
On Thursday, September 5, Jenner posted a carousel of selfies and a selfie video to Instagram showing close-cropped shots of herself wearing a very familiar but long-retired hair colour: teal. This was the Kylie Jenner hair colour of 2014, right before she was about to spring her legendary Lip Kits upon the makeup-obsessed period that was 20-teens.
Can we acknowledge that this is much bigger than just Kylie Jenner?
Allow me to refresh your memory:
Needless to say, fans are freaking out a bit. “Are you back????? King Kylie??????” one person wrote, echoing a sentiment seen in lots of other comments. “I missed the blue!!!!!!” another commenter wrote, while yet another said, “The perfect shade of teal, WE ARE SO BACK 🥲🩵.”
Without showing us her roots, it's hard to confirm if we're looking at a wig, though we tend to doubt she broke out the dye for this bold look like she used to for her ombré era 10 years ago. If it's anything like her short-lived return to pink earlier this year, however, we may be seeing a lot of it should she decide to make it her new profile pic.
